Department Of Agriculture

Faculty of Agriculture came into existence at Pt. S.N.S. University Shahdol in June 2022, with the new degree course B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture. The duration of course is 4 years, spread to 8 semesters. One to six semesters are conducted with course and practical classes and 7 th and 8 th semester are based on village and industry level practices (Rural Agriculture Work Experience and Agro Industry Attachment (RAWE & AIA).

A candidate shall be eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture. If he/she has passed 10+2/ intermediate examination in Agriculture or in Science (with physics, chemistry and mathematics/ biology or any other equivalent examination recognized by university securing at least 45% marks in aggregates. There shall be an Entrance Examination. Eligible students will be admitted after qualifying entrance examination in the order of merit according to the available seats. Candidates qualifying PAT shall be exempted from the entrance examination and will be given priority in admission. The numbers of seats are 160.

Agriculture covers a broad range of subjects. Students can pursue different career options in this field, once they successfully complete this degree. NABARD, IFFCO, Central Warehouse Corporation and FCI are some government institutions that offer promising career choices to students from B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture. They can appear for JRF and can opt for higher education in form of M.Sc. Agriculture and MBA Agribusiness. Students also develop skill for setup agri-preneurship, research instinct, management of farm practices etc.


To conduct education, research and extension activities for enhancing productivity, profitability and sustainability of agricultural production systems and quality of rural livelihood in the State of Madhya Pradesh.
